Write Google AdWord Ads that Get Results

Adwords ad copy is much like classified ads, and you need to talk in specifics. If you ever thought about saving time by using an ad copy template - just do not ever do that. The thing to remember about your Adword campaigns is they must be relevant and targeted to your audience. This is important because you want your customers to get the right message and that can only happen when your copy is not generic in nature.

For instance, let's say you're selling shirts online and have various types of shirts in the stock, such as, men's shirts, women's shirts, full sleeve shirts, half sleeve shirts, etc. Ok, so your Adwords ad groups will contain keywords that only apply to one particular kind of shirt, and each ad within each ad group will be written specifically for those keywords. Ok, so what's the best approach to do this? Easy as pie, all you have to do is write an ad for each separate ad group. This is how you make your PPC campaigns the most targeted they can be, and actually this is not just for Google, but all search engine PPC platforms work in a similar manner.

Learning how to write good ad copy means economy of words; so make darn sure you are not using any wasted words - at all. Your ad should be short and powerful, which is why you should get rid every word that doesn't need to be in the ad. Words that do not need to be there are taking up space that can be better used to express your benefits and call to action.

Testing your headline, which you should do first, is of critical importance because your headline is what sets it all in motion.

Split testing is merely testing one thing against one other thing, and that is what you will do with your headlines. All you do in your marketing funnel culminates with your conversion rate, and the numbers are stark and brutally truthful. Also, during your testing, you should also test various offers. You can include your offer in your ad or not, but no matter what always split test your ad copy.

Eventhough a PPC ad is very small, there are quite a few things you can test, and the only way to know what those things are is to discover through study. If you get a lot of impressions, then that's great because you can get a higher sample at a much faster rate for testing. Just keep furthering your knowledge about writing advertising that works, and then keep at it until you get the results you like. Don't allow yourself to feel intimidate with PPC, and just keep getting experience.

Get Help For Your Problem With Remote PC

If you have Windows XP it has built in remote access software that helps you connect to a friends computer, by invitation, to help them by taking remote access control of their computer system. This means you could be in the USA and be helping your friend in Australia to find a solution to his or her computer problems. The technology to gain remote access to basically anyone's computer is available on most computer users start menu. I regularly give my friends computer support from the comfort of my own home.

What you need to use the Help and Support tool to gain remote access
  1. An broadband or cable internet connection.
  2. Windows XP on both computers
  3. An email address or be signed into Windows 4. Live messenger.

The easiest way to connect

It is very easy to connect two computers over the internet. One computer can take control and fix problems on the other computer. Following these steps to use the Help and support software that is built in to Windows.
  1. Sign in to Windows Live Messenger and have your friend do the same thing.
  2. Go to the start menu and choose Help and Support (shown below) Just the computer user that wants to invite does this.
  3. The Help and Support Center will appear.
  4. Click on Invite a Friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance. Located under the Ask For Assistance menu.
  5. Then press Invite someone to help you. The window below will appear.
  6. Choose your friends name from the Windows Messenger contact list.
  7. Click on Invite this person.
  8. This will allow your friend to see your desktop. If they want to control your they must press the Take control button and the other person must agree by pressing ok..
Check out the Screenshots for this article at How to connect to another computer. This is what I see when I am in control of my friends computer...I can go on the internet or read their emails etc..

Reasons to use Windows remote help and support
  • Your problem is so minor, you do not want to bother an IT support person.
  • You cannot afford an It technician, and your know a computer whiz..
  • You have already rang software support or your internet service provider and they could not help
  • You constantly need desktop computer help and using remote access software is easy!!
Notes:
  • If you close the Remote Assistance Window it will disconnect. And you will have to start your remote access again if you want to connect.
  • Don't worry if it is a bit slow because that is normal. The speed of your remote access depends on your speed of both internet connections.
  • You can also connect using an email address. The invitation is sent through email.

The Best Website Builder According to Website Builder Review

The Internet abounds with free and trial software for building websites. The problem is deciding which is the best website builder for your purposes. Some are ideal for business websites, while others are more suited to hobbyists or small business entrepreneurs who just want a web presence. The following examines some of the best website builder programs according to reviews posted online. What is a website builder?A website builder is simply software that helps someone build their own website without having to learn technical stuff such as coding. There are a wide variety of website builders on the market. Some are free, others relatively cheap and some cost a pretty penny. The decision as to which to use will depend on your budget and what your website will be used for. Some builders that have received good reviews that are available online for free or on a trial basis include the following:· Yahoo Web Hosting This offers easy-to-use design templates that you can customize for any business. There is no software to download, but this online site builder also works well with other site builders like Dreamweaver and FrontPage. The system supports most video applications, blogging, PayPal, maps, and forms for collecting visitor information. The Yahoo server boasts an impressive 99.99% uptime record for its hosted sites, and also offers remote backup, among other important security features.· Homestead Homestead gives users more than 2,000 templates to choose from and they are professionally designed, which instantly builds credibility. Each template can be customized with logos, text, and graphics. Forbes included Homestead on its "Best of the Web" list, saying, "A website builder tool for the technically unsavvy. The drag-and-drop software lets you create a web presence with minimal pain." Homestead offers a free trial, and packages starting at less than $5 per month. Internet marketers may be especially interested in the Homestead SearchLight package, which includes advanced website promotion tools.· Site Build It! Site Build It! (SBI!) is a fully-integrated online business-building system. It starts the site building procedure significantly earlier in the overall process, beginning with keyword research and including site building, hosting, and online marketing tools. With more than 100,000 customers, SBI! also boasts an Alexa ranking in the top 1,000. Customers tend to be nearly fanatical in their endorsement of SBI! and many of their success stories are posted on the site. SBI! claims its customers are in the top 3% of income-producers on the internet. It is important to recognize that many of the website builders, while advertised as being free, are not totally free. To be able use some of these builders you have to register to host your website with a particular company and they offer the software free of cost. Some are free only for the trial period so take care to read the fine print before you begin to build your website or you may end up losing your hard work without warning. Do some groundwork before making a final decision as to which application is the best website builder

Nine Hints to Become a More Organized Person

Have you ever feel that it is not that easy to be more organized person. Sometimes we come out with the fact that the things are not as they have to be. Below are some hints to be come a more organized person.

  1. Accept the fact that we cannot rely too much on our memories.

The human mind is exposed to a hurricane of information every day. As a result the mind does a very nice filtering process and very little of what we see and hear is retained in our minds. So instead of depending on our very selective memory why not depend on a piece of paper.

  2. Carry a tiny scribbling pad and a pen with you all the time.

The moment you fix an appointment or are asked to attend a meeting, jot it down in the scribbling pad. Do not bother about others laughing at you. You will have the last laugh in the end.

  3. It is a good idea to write it down orders in your book.

Each time you tell somebody to do something or when somebody like your boss asks you to do something write it down in your book along with the date and the time. Do not be afraid of being thought about as a person with a very poor memory. It wont be long before people start thinking of you as a highly organized person.

  4. If you have an electronic pocket organizer be sure to use it.

Each time someone gives you his or her telephone number, immediately enter it into your pocket organizer, along with the person name of course.

  5. Use the backside of business cards to help your memory.

Usually we get a lot of business cards as we go about our daily business of life. The business card of course contains the name of the person, his or her telephone number and probably the name of the firm for which the person works. But the problem is, the next time we meet the person, the face may seem familiar but we wont have the foggiest idea as to where we met the person. The best thing to do would be to jot down a few points about the person and probably the reason for meeting him or her and the place as well. This will certainly lessen the load on your memory centre. But take never to do it in front of the person.

  6. Keep away the business cards properly

As soon as you get back to your office take care to keep away the business cards you collected properly. Dont just stuff them into your card folder. Take care to read them properly and perhaps keep the cards of important clients separately. If you do not find much use for a person card, toss it.

  7. Prepare a to-do list everyday.

I cannot over emphasize the importance of to-do lists in getting yourself organized. It is probably the most sensible thing that a busy person should do. In fact I thought of devoting an entire chapter for to-do lists and I think that is just what I will do.

  8. Plan what you have to do well in advance.

It is a good idea to have daily, weekly and monthly plans. No this is not about expanding your business and things like that. I am not referring to a strategy plan that involves takeovers and mergers. Those things are beyond the scope of this book. I was referring to having plans about the daily, weekly and monthly activities of your business and yourself as well.

  9. Have a fixed timetable.

It may seem kind of mechanical but it would be wonderful if you could have a fixed time for everything and try to stick religiously to the time table. Believe me it really helps because in that way you will have time for everything and everything can be done in the time for it.

And so you are now moving towards becoming a more organized person. But there are still miles to go before mastering the art of time management. And that brings us to our next chapter.
With the above articles, we know that we can be a more organized person if we want to have some effort.

Building a Boundary Wall

  1. Municipal approved plans are needed to build any permanent structure on a property.
  2. Boundary walls must be build as per the design rules in the National Building Regulations and a copy of this can be obtained from any registered architect to inform you about these design rules.
  3. Determine the exact location of the boundary between properties as no walls or foundations may be build over the boundary line. If you are uncertain about your property boundary, you should ask a registered land surveyor to re-determine the boundary.
  4. Should your neighbor partake in the design, the cost and construction of the wall, the foundation and wall may be built on the center of the boundary line. In the absence of proof that a boundary wall, fence or hedge is entirely on one of two adjoining properties, it is presumed to be half on one property and half on the other.
  5. No existing boundary wall or fence may be removed without the prior permission in writing from your neighbor.
  6. Any demarcation system is a common boundary between the two parties and therefore the other party has the right to object.
  7. The Slope of the ground as the natural flow of water may not be restricted
  8. The types of soil on the property to ensure proper foundations are put in place.
  9. Trees in the area should be removed that might damage or affect the structure in the years to come.
  10. Will the boundary wall also be used as a retaining wall for the property as this will affect the design of the wall?
  11. The aesthetic value that will be added to the property.
  12. Height of the wall and how this will affect the frontal view of the property.
  13. Security aspect – cameras, electric fencing on top,
  14. Choosing a contractor
  15. Maintenance of the wall
  16. Reasons for erecting a boundary wall – security, privacy, create save environment for children and family.
Do certain walls match certain types of houses?

Various styles of walls can be build for example Tuscan, Victorian, Spanish or any other modern design. Boundary walls should match the same finishes as the house or building to maintain aesthetic consistency.
Materials such as stone, bricks, pillars, steel and wood can be used in any combination to create the desired affect you want to create.

What are the various different costs involved?
  • Drawing of plans
  • Submission & approval of the plans at your local municipality
  • Building costs
  • Plumbing
  • Finishing – lighting, gardening and overall finish on the wall.
What factors influence the cost of Increase in price of raw material, which can occur at any time like the cement increase in the beginning of July 2007.
  • The type of material used and the availability of such materials
  • The design of the wall and the size – height and width
  • Contractors used
What are some of the things homeowners need to be wary of?
  • The quality of the materials used
  • The contractor that will be used to build the wall
  • Local municipal regulations
  • Heritage sites have special regulations that have to be adhered to.
  • The desire for privacy and security has resulted in the need to increase the height of existing boundary walls but high solid walls can result in a bland and hostile street environment and can conceal intruders from the street.

how to remove csrcs.exe

Whenever i boot my windows i used to get a message windows cannot find "csrcs.exe".....

Initially i used to ignore it assuming its some registry error.Later on it started annoying me and i got curious and i wanted to know what it is,so like every flock i googled it n i came to some of these-
  • WHAT IS CSRCS.EXE?
It is a undescribed program that loads when the system boots(no one seems to know who created it).It is hidden and is able to monitor your system processes and can remotely transfer datas to external servers through lan or internet. It may even manipulate other programs and create a backup of it self in case it is identified and exterminated.
"This just means it is very dangerous"
  • HOW TO REMOVE CSRCS.EXE?
Unfortunately google was unable to provide me with any real solutions(all the search results where like download csrcs.exe scanner and fix errors). You will not find it among the startup program lists. So i took up it my hands and did it the manual hackers way(I'll be explaining to you how to remove it).
That something you must do was :
  1. Click START-RUN,type there regedit(this will open system registry windows)
  2. Type ctrl+F in sametime
  3. Write csrcs on the searchbox (search now)

It'll show you some results, you'll find there "csrcs.exe",just delete it immediately.

Its not over yet, again do the same search you may see "explorer.exe csrcs.exe" , left click then modify and remove the csrcs.exe part(leave the explorer.exe as it is)

There you go congrats you just removed csrcs.exe
Restart your system and see it for yourself.

Making Older Desktop Pc Wireless

Okay so your looking for information on making a desktop PC wireless. You'll be happy to know that just about any desktop PC can support a wireless internet connection. Even older desktops can connect to the internet via a wireless internet connection.

First, make sure your desktop PC is in good working order. What I mean by good working order is just to make sure the desktop PC is free of unwanted spyware and other harmful files which could make a desktop computer's wireless connection slow down to a crawl. If you plan on making an older desktop PC wireless then you should really scan your computer for spyware and infections because the last thing you want is something stealing all your system resources when you don't have very much to begin with.

WHATS NEEDED TO MAKE DESKTOP PC WIRELESS

Let's start by assuming you already have an internet service (not dial-up) and are cruising the web with ease. You should have a cable modem connected to your desktop PC. If this is the case, then you're ready to begin your wireless setup. If you don't have an existing internet service and a cable modem then you'd better stop reading this because a wireless internet connection on your desktop PC can't be accomplished legally without them.

MAKING PC WIRELESS - WIRELESS ROUTER
First, before anything, you need to purchase a wireless router. If you've never owned a wireless router before then grabbing the most expensive model probably won't benefit you all that much unless you plan on receiving a wireless internet connection from inside of a multiple story building. In this case a more expensive router will offer a few features that are worth the extra money.

Remember when you go ahead and purchase a wireless router in hopes of making your desktop computer wireless you'll be happy to know that you'll be halfway done with your mission for wireless internet on your desktop. The only thing left is a wireless PC adapter.

MAKING PC WIRELESS - WIRELESS DESKTOP ADAPTERS

It's actually very easy to add a wireless desktop adapter to your comupter's arsenal of computing tools. There are two different types of wireless networking components that you can choose from. They are as follows.

  1. Wireless USB adapter
  2. Wireless PCI adapter

*both wireless devices are packaged with a setup CD-ROM which quickly installs everything needed to configure and use your PC's wireless internet connection.

A wireless USB adapter is the easiest way to make a desktop PC wireless. The cons of using a wireless USB adapter are the signal strength which is considerably weaker than a wireless PCI card. Most people experience no problems with signal strength as long as they stay within range of the wireless router that's sending out the wireless signal.

Basically, installing a wireless USB adapter plugs into any available USB port. In reality, it only takes a matter of seconds to plug in a USB adapter and start using the internet without the wires.

The second wireless device that can make desktop computers wireless is called a wireless PCI (PCI = white slots inside a computer) card adapter. This device enables high performance wireless connectivity for your desktop PC with extended range.

Installation is not as hard as you might have thought. Simply remove the side panel from your desktop PC and insert the wireless PCI card into any one of the white slots inside. There is only one way the card can be installed. Reading the directions that are included when you purchase your wireless networking device is by far the best thing you can do to ensure a smooth installation and launch of your wireless connection.MAKING DESKTOP PC WIRELESS

How Can VoIP Support Small Business Growth

Here's the question .... how can you convince your management that a VoIP solution will support your small business?

The best argument for VOIP is lower communication costs ... but it's not the only reason.

I would suggest using hybrid solutions. Where the bulk of communication, voice, and video are done through VOIP .... and emergency services "fall back" in case of Internet fail is done with minimal classical PSTN solutions.

When I say VOIP from now on I mean 90 % VOIP and some minimal PSTN add-ons.

Why VOIP?

1- Lower communication costs ....

While this is basically clear it still needs to be demonstrated. Assume you have a company that most of its calls are from "overseas" to the USA and vice versa.

You need to get the cost of all such calls currently on one side .... and then compute what would be the cost in case all Intercontinental calls went through a VOIP system.

Now you have the number of calls * local call quantity* local call cost.

You can compare the costs in both situations.

a. I would take the worst case scenario where none of the calls in either side ends in a VOIP end station like Packet8. To make the comparison complete you should add all static costs as well: equipment cost, support cost etc.

b. Simply compare the price of adding a 2MBPS PRI line to increasing your company's Internet connection BW by 2 MBPS. That will show a lot to VOIP's favor.

c. Long distance calls are severely affected by duration of the call. While local calls and VOIP goes into the PSTN, are much less affected by the duration. In some places in state calls are not charged individually but a monthly payment is done.

d. Equipment cost per end station is lower. While this is almost always true you need to prove that too by talking to a VOIP equipment provider, for example AVAYA, Cisco, NORTEL. And comparing the prices in both instances.

2. Adding new features to an existing PBX is messy most of the time .... while adding new features, capabilities and capacity is easy in VOIP.

3. A unified communication that has VOIP and IP running on the same enterprise infrastructure is easier to manage .... but of course needs more expertise.

4. You can have 'local' numbers anywhere a VOIP provider has a presence. Want to establish a presence in another state or country - start with a VOIP number in the new location that is answered by an existing office.

5. It allows you to virtualize your office. For example, a company provides after hours customer support by employing people to work from home in four time zones. VOIP allows the company's PABX to be extended cheaply and easily into their home ... even though they are in different countries and serviced by different telcos/ISPs.

6. Besides lower costs in contrast to PSTN, VoIP services provide better roaming, a possibility to quicker office relocation and total independence from local telephone companies (meaning that in theory you can buy VoIP services from any service provider on the globe). With VoIP services you can build a PBX which serves the same voice services to all employees around the globe thus making it possible to build virtual offices. You can also easily integrate voice, e-mail and presence services with VoIP technologies.

7. More advantages include .... Ubiquity through Unified Messaging, phone mobility, geographic growth through MPLS networks using centralized services, 50% less cabling in LAN, use a portable with VoIP Client plus headsets and digital/voip phones cease to be necessary, corporate voice can go through a data MPLS network, you can receive calls over the internet on your contact center.

Keep in mind that while trying to convince your company to favor a VOIP solution ... it is also important to be open and explain all the pros and cons, everything.

* Quality of voice is similar to regular PSTN solutions but not exactly the same as POTS. It might be undiscernibly but still some difference exists. How close the quality of VOIP depends on how well your company's infrastructure is ready for VOIP, how good an SLA (Service Level Agreement) you have with you Internet Service Provider.

* When the Internet is attacked intentionally or unintentionally all VOIP equipment, end points, VOIP phones will be affected. It is very rare that a PSTN system is brought down except when a catastrophe happens and everyone is trying to call everyone.

* Voip gained such a bad reputation over the last few years, as everyone still keeps talking about low call costs and free calls. VoIP is a reasonable cost installation but not Cheap at least if you use decent kit. If you try and do everything on the cheap then you get bad call quality etc and loads of hate mail from management.

There you go ... most everything you need to develop a strong argument for implementing a VoIP solution in your company. For additional assistance to work through all the specifics .... and find the most cost effective providers (hardware and services) .... I suggest using Business-Voip-Solution.com. Their help is NO COST to you .... another advantage.

4 Essential Things To Build Your Email List

Internet marketing may have developed a rapid surge for the past few years. As more internet based businesses are being established, you need to develop new marketing skills and knowledge to keep up with the competition and to cope with the changing in Internet business world.

The demand for Internet marketing tips and techniques have grown significantly and new strategies of online marketing has been born, one of them is Opt-in email marketing, also known as permission marketing. Believe it or not, this technique can spread the word about your sites subsistence in a very cost free and effective way.

Opt-in marketing requires the permission of customer before you are allowed to send or promote any marketing materials, usually in newsletters form delivered via e-mail. The more targeted opt-in marketing mail is sent, the more chances there is to generate sales and more sales. To do this, you must build a list of all those who are interested in your niche and wants to subscribe to your opt-in marketing list.

From your list, you will get your targeted customer, this is a good list since they already have shown interest in what you have to show and sell since they have willingly signed in for your list. These are the people who have liked what they have seen in your site and have decided they want to see more and maybe even purchase what ever product or service your site has to offer.

Many people would think that building their lists would take hard work and a lot of time to build and collect names and addresses. This is not so, it takes a bit of patience and some strategies but in doing this list, you open your site and your business to a whole new world of target market. Take the effort to take your business to a new level, if traffic increase and good profits are what you want, an opt-in list will do wonders for your business venture.

There are many sources and articles in the internet available for everyone to read and follow in building a list. Sometimes they may be confusing because there are so many and there different ways. Different groups of people would have different approaches in building an opt-in list, but no matter how diverse many methods are, there are always some crucial things to do to build your list. Here are four of them.

1) Put up a good web form in your site that immediately follows the end of your content. While some may say this is too soon to subscribe for a website visitors application, try to remember that your homepage should provide a quick good impression. If somehow a website visitor finds something that he or she doesn't like and turns them off, they may just forget about signing up.

A good web form for subscribing to an opt-in list is not hard to do. Just write a simple short statement about how they would like to see more and get updated about the site. Then there should be an area where they could put in their names and e-mail address. This web form will automatically save and send you the data's inputted. As more people sign in, your list will be growing.

2) As mentioned in the first tip, make your homepage very, very impressive. You need to have well written articles and descriptions of your site. Depending on what your site is all about, you need to capture your website visitor's fancy. Make your site useful and very easy to use. Do not expect everyone to be tech savvy. Invest in having good programming in your site, make your graphics beautiful but don't over do it.

Don't waste your time making the homepage too overly large megabyte wise. Not all people have dedicated T1 connections, the faster your site gets loaded, the better. Go for a look that borders between simplicity and sophisticated knowledge.

3) Provide good service and products. A return customer is more likely to bring in more business. Even then and now, a satisfied customer will recommend a business always. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad. As your clientele roster grows so shall your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.

4) Keep a clean and private list. Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you. Remember, a good reputation will drive in more traffic and subscribers as well as strengthen the loyalty of your customers.

Random Access Memory

RAM is the area where your computer stores programs that you are currently running and data that you are currently working on.

RAM can be contrasted with disk storage. Disk storage holds all of your programs and all of your data -- whether you are working with them or not. When you turn off your computer, the contents of RAM instantly disappear, but the contents of your disk storage remain unharmed.

RAM is also sometimes contrasted with ROM. ROM (Read Only Memory) are memory chips which have had information stored on them which cannot be changed.
How big is RAM?
RAM is small, both in physical size (it's stored in microchips) and in the amount of data it can hold. It's much smaller than your hard disk. A typical computer may come with 256 million bytes of RAM and a hard disk that can hold 40 billion bytes. RAM comes in the form of "discrete" (meaning separate) microchips and also in the form of modules that plug into holes in the computer's motherboard. These holes connect through a bus or set of electrical paths to the processor. The hard drive, on the other hand, stores data on a magnetized surface that looks like a phonograph record.

Most personal computers are designed to allow you to add additional RAM modules up to a certain limit. Having more RAM in your computer reduces the number of times that the computer processor has to read data in from your hard disk, an operation that takes much longer than reading data from RAM. (RAM access time is in nanoseconds; hard disk access time is in milliseconds.)

Types of RAM The following are some common types of RAM:
  • SRAM: Static random access memory uses multiple transistors, typically four to six, for each memory cell but doesn't have a capacitor in each cell. It is used primarily for cache.
  • DRAM: Dynamic random access memory has memory cells with a paired transistor and capacitor requiring constant refreshing.
  • FPM DRAM: Fast page mode dynamic random access memory was the original form of DRAM. It waits through the entire process of locating a bit of data by column and row and then reading the bit before it starts on the next bit. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 176 MBps.
  • EDO DRAM: Extended data-out dynamic random access memory does not wait for all of the processing of the first bit before continuing to the next one. As soon as the address of the first bit is located, EDO DRAM begins looking for the next bit. It is about five percent faster than FPM. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 264 MBps.
  • SDRAM: Synchronous dynamic random access memory takes advantage of the burst mode concept to greatly improve performance. It does this by staying on the row containing the requested bit and moving rapidly through the columns, reading each bit as it goes. The idea is that most of the time the data needed by the CPU will be in sequence. SDRAM is about five percent faster than EDO RAM and is the most common form in desktops today. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 528 MBps.
  • DDR SDRAM: Double data rate synchronous dynamic RAM is just like SDRAM except that is has higher bandwidth, meaning greater speed. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 1,064 MBps (for DDR SDRAM 133 MHZ).
  • RDRAM: Rambus dynamic random access memory is a radical departure from the previous DRAM architecture. Designed by Rambus , RDRAM uses a Rambus in-line memory module (RIMM), which is similar in size and pin configuration to a standard DIMM. What makes RDRAM so different is its use of a special high-speed data bus called the Rambus channel. RDRAM memory chips work in parallel to achieve a data rate of 800 MHz, or 1,600 MBps. Since they operate at such high speeds, they generate much more heat than other types of chips. To help dissipate the excess heat Rambus chips are fitted with a heat spreader, which looks like a long thin wafer. Just like there are smaller versions of DIMMs, there are also SO-RIMMs, designed for notebook computers.
  • Credit Card Memory: Credit card memory is a proprietary self-contained DRAM memory module that plugs into a special slot for use in notebook computers.
  • PCMCIA Memory Card: Another self-contained DRAM module for notebooks, cards of this type are not proprietary and should work with any notebook computer whose system bus matches the memory card's configuration.
  • CMOS RAM: CMOS RAM is a term for the small amount of memory used by your computer and some other devices to remember things like hard disk settings -- see Why does my computer need a battery? For details. This memory uses a small battery to provide it with the power it needs to maintain the memory contents.
  • VRAM: Video RAM, also known as multiport dynamic random access memory (MPDRAM), is a type of RAM used specifically for video adapters or 3-D accelerators. The "multiport" part comes from the fact that VRAM normally has two independent access ports instead of one, allowing the CPU and graphics processor to access the RAM simultaneously. VRAM is located on the graphics card and comes in a variety of formats, many of which are proprietary. The amount of VRAM is a determining factor in the resolution and color depth of the display. VRAM is also used to hold graphics-specific information such as 3-D geometry data and texture maps. True multiport VRAM tends to be expensive, so today, many graphics cards use SGRAM (synchronous graphics RAM) instead. Performance is nearly the same, but SGRAM is cheaper.

How to Upgrade Your Pc

Before you upgrade your PC hardware it’s best to search all options and ask for advice. Only after this you can go and buy a new component. It’s also useful to check if you really need an upgrade.

Do not upgrade your very old PC because it would cost a lot of money. It’s cheaper to buy a new computer in such cases because they are easier to upgrade later.

Upgrading the hard drive:

The majority of people do not really need to upgrade their hard disk, unless they use it for playing a lot of music, movies, and games. A 20 GB hard drive is sufficient to keep new office and internet applications, and all your files and data.

A medium sized hard drive would be around 40 GB and the maximum would be around 60 – 80 GB.

Before upgrading your hard disk it’s best to do a complete disk checkup including disk scan, defragmentation, etc. If you happen to be an average user and need more storage you can add an additional drive to the existing one. Before an upgrade, be sure to back up your files.

Upgrading the RAM:

How to Upgrade Your Pc

RAM or Random Access Memory is the short-term memory of the PC. It keeps data that is being worked on now and may or may not be transferred to the hard drive that represents the long-term memory of the computer.

Current processors can perform an enormous number of operations per second. The hard drive, on the other hand, is significantly slower to handle so much information. This is where a high-speed RAM memory comes in. RAM needs a power supply to keep data. Once the power is turned off the data is lost.

Almost all PCs have 64 MB RAM and often 128 MB. If you want to run newer applications on your PC then you must upgrade to 128/256 MB RAM.

A lot of people who upgrade from 98 to Win 2000 discover that their computers lock up very often. This is because they don't have enough RAM.

CPU upgrade:

If you choose this upgrade, you will have faster execution of instructions but it leaves the RAM and hard drive capacity unchanged.

This sis the most cost effective upgrade and can increase the efficiency of your computer
considerably. Seek a professional help before you take a decision.

Motherboard:

Upgrading motherboard is not such a good proposition unless you replace the CPU and the RAM as well to achieve greater performance levels. You upgrade the motherboard either because the current one doesn’t support a faster CPU or the CPU requires a different socket. It could be very expensive. Think about buying a new PC.

Ports:

Ports are sockets at the back of your computer where you plug in external devices. Older PCs work on “parallel” ports. If you need to work a lot on peripherals such as digital cameras, digital camcorders, CD burners, and scanners then you need to upgrade to USB and Firewire ports if you are not using them already.

Both tend to be cheaper than the “parallel” and SCSI devices they replace. Always make sure that there are no compatibility problems with other devices in your PC when you plan to upgrade any hardware on your machine.
